The Hedge (& Wall) Importance Test provides a simple and comprehensive guide to the importance of any hedge, hedgerow, hedgebank or dry-stone wall. It does not interfere with the hedge or the wildlife in it, and can be carried out at any season of the year. The HIT is designed for use by the general public, free of charge. It uses a single-sheet survey form and help-note to assess the hedge's value in landscape, history and wildlife. The HIT database automatically gives a detailed written description of the hedge.
